Leominster Firefighting – Images of America. By: Roger H. LPointe. In 1820, a group of Leominster, Massachusetts volunteers formed Engine Company No. 1 “in the interests of protecting the rights of the settlers in case of fire.” Since then, more than 1,400 individuals have served as firefighters in Leominster, with each leaving a legacy that will never be forgotten. Leominster Firefighting features images, memorabilia, and photographs from the early days of the hand tubs and horse-drawn hose carts up to the 20th century, when motorized apparatus arrived. It provides a glimpse into the many traditions that have been passed from one generation to the next and a look into how fire has changed Leominster. B&W Photos. Softbound. Pgs. 127. Book measures approximately 8 1/2 inches X 9 1/2 inches.
